Why Visit The Scout Connection?
Other than the obvious reasons displayed throughout our web site, we are centrally located in the heart of North America, at the crossroads of the U.S. Interstate system, Iowa is the hub of hospitality. Iowa boasts year-round events, festivals and sight-seeing, everything from RAGBRAI, a week-long bike ride across Iowa, to the Classic Iowa State Fair, the nation’s oldest and best, to the National Hot Air Balloon Classic in Indianola, and the Knoxville World’s Largest Sprint Car Nationals!
For the Ladies, we are an easy day trip to the world-famous Amana Colonies, Iowa’s No. 1 tourist destination, featuring Old World German crafts, shopping and eateries. There is also the Coral Ridge Mall, Iowa’s largest Indoor shopping playground, complete with an ice skating rink, carousel, children’s museum and 50+ stores. Also, close-by is the Tanger Outlet Center, with over 60 outlet stores.
For the family, close-by attractions include Hannibal (Mark Twain’s boyhood home), Nauvoo (home of world-famous Nauvoo Blue Cheese and Mormon restored 1840’s village), Villages of Van Buren (5 separate quaint villages, steeped in history, antique shops and resident craftspeople), Keokuk (home to Iowa’s only National Cemetery, Verity Riverboat Museum and Lock and Dam 19 and Hydroelectric Plant on the Mississippi River).
If you are fond of quaint antique shops, cozy bed-and-breakfast inns and hearty, home-cooked Midwestern food, they are all right here! If you would like more information on Iowa or an Iowa Travel Guide, go to www.traveliowa.com
Plan a trip to come see us and enjoy some Midwestern hospitality! There are activities for every season and Fort Madison is accessible by car, train, plane or even boat!! We hope to see you soon!!
